State of the Fractured Union
The Astrology of the Joint Session Address
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 9:00pm EST, a certain Orange Foolius is set to deliver a “speech” to a joint session of Congress. Normally, this would be referred to as a “State of the Union” (SOTU) address, but for reasons that don’t need exploring at this juncture, it’s not being called that.
The SOTU is a speech given to a joint session of Congress (both the House of Representative and the Senate) by the President. It’s sort of a progress report from the Executive Branch to the Legislative Branch on WTAF is going on in the homeland. The SOTU is usually given in the early part of the calendar year.
Fun fact: The President cannot simply show up whenever they wish to deliver this address. As part of the separation of powers, they must be invited by the Speaker of the House, who is currently Mike Johnson. Anyway, regardless of whatever tossed word salad will be served on this half-baked clamshell, we all know the actual state of our Union - Fractured AF.
We’re looking at the astrology of this event to see what energy the chart holds, as well as breaking down a few of the most important placements and patterns. We’ll pull it all together with some options of how this may play out.
Suffice it to say, while this may be a different kind of “joint session”, we’re all likely to need a collective puff-n-pass before the night is through. Even us non-par-tokers might be reaching for our anesthetic of choice. *sigh* Let’s get into it!
Loaded Libra
This chart has a 20° 57’ Libra ASC, which happens to not only be on a world point, but also conjunct the natal 22° Neptune of our Government/Constitution (11H - Legislature) and the natal 18° Libra Moon in the 47 Administration chart (6H - public servants, labor unions). That one placement packs a lot of punch and really is the focal point of this chart. We will see it reappear in a number of patterns.
Libra rules law, justice, and diplomacy, always trying to keep the scales balanced. Her ruler Venus, the planet of relationships, money, and values, is currently at 10° Aries, a bold and fiery placement, in the 6th House. We can expect these 6H topics (public servants, labor unions) to be a focus of this speech, especially since Mercury (02° Aries), the planet of communication, just entered the same sign of initiative.
However, Venus is currently retrograde, and Mercury is in its pre-shadow retrograde. Retrogrades bring all the “re-” words: revision, review, reflect, reduce, reprioritize, redo, etc. With Mercury involved, we can expect to hear about re-evaluating contracts, communications, and media, especially around the resources of Venus. Some of these announcements may get walked back once Mercury stations retrograde on March 15, though. That is the day after the current Continuing Resolution that is keeping our government funded and the lights on expires. We’ll come back to that.
Mercury is also sextile Pluto in Aquarius, creating an “easy and flow” in communications that will greatly transform the collective. Pluto is in the 4th House of the homeland and founding, but that house can also represent political opposition parties or rebels. Our Government/Constitution has a natal Pluto in Aquarius and while the transit will not be exact for quite a while, we are still going through a Pluto return. Will something said in this address be the igniting spark to a revolution?
Also sitting in the 6th House is a North Node (28° Pisces Rx) and Neptune (29° Pisces) conjunction. With delulu Neptune at the critical degree of crisis and decay, we can expect 47 to spin bullshit like cotton candy. His cult will eat it up… or will they? One thing to note is that Neptune is about to change signs, moving from its watery home of Pisces into fiery initiating Aries on March 30. We may literally see the tides changing around then.
The ASC is also in direct opposition to 20° Chiron in Aries. This is an exact Chiron return for the U.S., whose natal Chiron lives at 20° Aries in also the 4th House. Remember the 4th House is a foundational house that can also bring opposition. This could be associated with the farmers of America and the impact all of this is having on their livelihood. It is indeed causing some deep pain.
HOW THIS COULD PLAY OUT: Expect DOGE and their decimation of the federal workforce to be a key topic. There are many MAGA who voted for 47 thinking these cuts would impact only the “undesirables” or the “parasitic class” as Apartheid Elmo calls them. They are shocked - SHOCKED! - to find themselves suddenly in the crosshairs of this democracy demolition crew as Social Security, National Park Service, Veterans Administration, Department of Education, and countless other agencies that all Americans literally rely upon to keep life going are toppled.
Tariffs are set to go into effect on Tuesday, adding 25% to the goods we import from Canada and Mexico, and an additional 10% on goods from China. Canada is one of our largest suppliers of fertilizer (although 1600 Penn is also doing a good job of churning that out) and the increase in costs for farmers will be directly felt by all of us at the grocery store.
Additionally, many farmers have lost sources of income due to the dismantling of USAID, which would export their crops to nations in need. USAID sources approximately 41% of their food from American agricultural producers, which accounted for around $2 Billion in food aid.
Farmers also find themselves in debt after grant funding previously approved for improvements such as solar panels and irrigation systems was rescinded. Since farmers must first outlay the full expense and then get reimbursed through the grant program, they are now left holding the bill in full, giving them less or no working capital for the upcoming growing season.
Could all of this turn those farmers and the “average American” into unlikely allies who rebel against their Dear Leader? Could they seek justice and legal remedies for their betrayal? There are already serious legal concerns about whether DOGE’s existence is even constitutional, and so far, the courts have generally not found in their favor. Will 47 push this legal test to the limit by announcing even more painful executive orders? TBD.
Note: Looking ahead, the 23° Libra Full Moon on April 12 will be conjunct this chart ASC. The truth (or deception) around something said or promised during Tuesday’s speech may “come to light” at that time. The Full Moon is quickly followed by Venus stationing direct at 24° Pisces, and this lunation brings with it some BIG DEAL ENERGY. We’ll explore that in another post but mark this date on your calendar. It’s definitely one to watch.
Martial Midheaven
This chart also has a 24° Cancer MC, which is conjunct the natal U.S. Mercury (24° Cancer Rx - 8H) and the 47 Administration natal Mars (24° Cancer RX - 6H). Again, we are seeing the themes of communication or information (Mercury) and public servants (6H) reiterated, but also adding in foreign debts, taxes, and power conflicts.
Mars (now direct) is applying to that MC at 17° Cancer in the 9th House of the Judiciary. Mars “attacks” and can represent opposition, military, or police. Could we see some “attack” from SCOTUS? Or perhaps the federal judges currently handling the enormous amount of litigation generated by this administration will be an opposition to 47’s agenda? Of course, we might also see the judiciary become more militant in its rulings.
This Cancer MC-Mars combo is also part of a T-square between the Libra ASC and Aries Chiron. Something about this speech will trigger serious unhealed wounds in this country, and with Chiron on the DSC, this may involve our 7th House international allies.
Mars is also trine the Pisces Sun (leader) and Saturn (restriction). Again, this feels like 47 will advocate for using some show of force to impose restrictions, and/or the restrictions he creates will amplify martial conflict. 0% of this feels good.
Finally, the Cancer MC is sextile a Taurus Uranus-Moon conjunction. Taurus is all about resources and Uranus can be associated with technology. Could we see another effort to get people (Moon) to crowdfund crypto? This conjunction is in the 8th House of debt and taxes, which it shares with expansive Jupiter in Gemini. Of course, this could also be a sign that the national debt will get much larger, with We, the People, suddenly being on the hook for payment.
Note: These aspects - the ASC/MC/Mars/Chiron T-square and the MC sextile Uranus-Moon conjunction - feel strikingly similar to ones present in the Reichstag Fire chart that we’ll be sharing in Part 2 of “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. Does that mean something terrible will take place on Tuesday night? Not at all, but they do share some of the same shocking public impact energy that is tinged with malefic heaviness. HOW THIS COULD PLAY OUT: This could certainly be about Ukraine, especially with Mars involved. 47 announced that all funding for Ukrainian support would be immediately stopped even though that spending has already been authorized by Congress. This is an action known as “impoundment” and it is illegal.
He could announce his intention to withdraw the U.S. from NATO, after which Congress would have 180 days to consult with the Executive Branch about the withdrawal before putting it to a vote. The legislation would need to pass the Senate with a two-thirds majority, something that is highly unlikely to happen right now. Of course, that could change.
Either way, the U.S. has become that friend who is going through a rough patch and keeps showing up drunk at your door at 3am. I mean, you feel bad for the dude, but they need to sort their own shit out and stop dragging everyone else into the depths of their personal untherapied hell.
We also know that DOGE is going after cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits - money the American people have paid over the years to fund an insurance plan we can tap into should we fall on hard times. It is OUR money, not the billionaires. These cuts would be used to extend the 2017 tax cuts to billionaires, which are set to expire this year, and would be a literal death sentence to millions of people who rely on this meager, but vital, economic support.
The current Continuing Resolution that is funding government operations will expire on March 14, at which point we face yet another government shutdown and probably default on U.S. debt payments. The latter would be catastrophic for our nation, especially as Treasury has already resorted to the “extraordinary measures” of borrowing from federal pension funds to keep current on debt payments.
The GOP intends to extend these tax cuts, but in order to do so, they also need to raise the current debt ceiling - significantly. The intention is to raise it by $4.5 Trillion, a limit that will only last 21 months at most, being met by November 2026. These tax cuts only benefit billionaires and place the burden of payment on average Americans.
47 has also announced his intentions to create a U.S. strategic cryptocurrency reserve, which would fund 5 major coins: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, and Cardano. This is a friendly reminder that crypto is highly volatile and unregulated, as well as a safe haven for funding illegal activities and terrorism due to its virtually untraceable nature. Wonder who benefits from this…

The Pain Point
Lastly, it just would not be an event chart if we didn’t have a Yod. Our Libra ASC is at the apex and quincunx the Uranus-Moon conjunction (Taurus-8H), which is sextile Saturn (Pisces-5H). The Uranus-Moon pairing is also conjunct our favorite fixed star of fuckery, Algol. This entire Yod is bisected by the painful ASC-Chiron opposition. Ew.
You may recall that the 47 Administration natal chart also has a Yod with the Libra apex at nearly the same degree, which was also bisected by an opposition to Chiron. This feels very much like “a nation divided”. This speech may only serve to throw salt in our collective wounds and create an even more divided America.
HOW THIS COULD PLAY OUT: With the 5th House of recreation and birthrates involved, there may be some announcement about further restrictions on bodily autonomy and reproductive care, like a Comstock Laws 2.0.
However, 47 has also been spouting off about cutting funding for educational institutions that allow “illegal demonstrations” and expelling students who participate. The 5th House governs children and how they are raised, and trying to restrict (Saturn) the students right to assemble is very on-brand for this administration.
Uranus is also all about technology, and conjunct the Moon, this could concern the mass use of facial recognition software. The collection of biometric data has largely been ignored, but it’s deeply concerning and restrictive in its own right, totally giving Minority Report/Project Insight/1984 vibes. There could be an announcement about new legislation to expand the use of this surveillance and impose criminal penalties for protestors.
47 has begun a push against masks, trying to reignite old anti-masking laws that were used to combat the KKK in an effort to de-anonymize protestors. While these “Unmask Hate” proposals have the support of some Democratic lawmakers in New York and Maryland, this is a concept that could easily become weaponized, especially against high-risk folks who rely on mask use for immunity protection (hello, bird flu, moo flu, CoVID, Tuberculosis, Measles, MPox, WTAF…) We need to think very deeply about how such legislation can be misused.
Of course, this may be the catalyst the People (Moon) need to make a sudden break (Uranus) with the restrictions (Saturn) being imposed by this regime. They see the entire structure (Saturn) of this nation and our government dissolving (Pisces) and realize how precious a resource (Taurus) it is/was. The Sun (Leader) is applying to Saturn, so expect 47 to keep tightening his grip, using every legislative tool at his disposal to please his Project 2025 puppeteers.
This quincunx between our Libra ASC and Saturn also has a “restructure” energy, especially with ASC ruler Venus in retrograde. It calls to mind former-President Bill Clinton’s “Reinventing Government”, and don’t be surprised to hear them invoke that name: “The Dems did it and you were okay with it, so why is it a problem now?” FOH.
Clinton’s initiative was not popular, but it was at least thoughtful and rolled out by actual adults familiar with the workings of government and not some 19-year-old incels who masquerade online as “Big Balls”. The asteroid cannot come soon enough…
AT THE END OF THE DAY: The Legislative Branch has the ability to make or break 47’s designs on fascism. Will they choose the side of the people (Moon) or Dear Leader? Will there be some legislative action (Libra) announced that “breaks” (Uranus) the People (Moon)? Maybe, but remember that Algol is lending its beheading energy to this Yod. That does not mean literal violence, but it could. Be careful, folks.
