A Tale of Two Wolves and Two Inaugurations
Welcome back to Politics & Pentacles! We are exploring this history and astrology of the 2025 Inauguration. Please be sure to read Part 1 first if you have not already done so. In Part 2, we are looking at the event chart for this inauguration along with how it compares and contrasts with some inaugurations of the past.
NOTE: As stated in Part 1, this analysis was written and ready to post in mid-January, but I just… couldn’t. It all felt too ugly and overwhelming. Sometimes a strong intuition is a double-edged sword.
At 12:01 PM on Monday, January 20, 2025, we ALL went in bocca al Lupo, where the Wolf of Fascism and the Wolf of Democracy are competing for resources. One is being overfed, kind of like those face-eating leopards we’ve been hearing so much about. Is this how democracy dies, or is this how it rises to meet the moment?
That will depend on which wolf we choose to feed. We are the ghost light in this time of darkness as we go into the mouth of the wolf…
In Bocca al Lupo
Which is exactly what this chart feels like: the mouth of the wolf. Like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, it’s deceiving. I don’t believe it has yet revealed all its secrets, nor has the administration which it represents, but it does have a lot to say. While we have the chart from the election, I will use this one as the “natal chart” for 47’s term since he didn’t officially become president until inauguration. That means it will be active for his time in office, and we will come back to it again for transits.
NOTE: We are very specifically not saying “the next 4 years” because we all know he has no intentions of leaving. I also pulled the chart for 45’s inauguration to see where they overlap or contrast, and the results were quite interesting.
One historical note that has astrological impact: Every president since the second term of Franklin Delano Roosevelt has been sworn in at noon on January 20, in Washington, D.C., unless some unexpected event such as death or resignation disrupted the incumbent’s time in office. If the 20th fell on a Sunday, the president would take the Oath of Office privately that day and then the public swearing-in ceremony would take place the following day.
That wasn’t always the case, though! Prior to 1933, inaugurations were held on March 4, which is the day our federal government began under the Constitution. The nation’s capital city was not always the District of Columbia, so inaugurations have also been held in New York City (our original capital) and Philadelphia (our second capital).
As a result, modern administrations sworn in on January 20th or 21st in D.C. have nearly identical houses, Sun, ASC, and MC placements, but the remaining planets and moon are still very different, as are any patterns and aspects. The previous March inaugurations and prior capital locations would give earlier inaugurations a completely different astrological energy than the ones we have now.
We’re going to do a quick overview of the 45 chart because the 47 chart very much feels like “unfinished business”. Let’s get into the cosmos.
